Before Your Appointment
If this is the first time that you are visiting our clinic, please plan on arriving at the office 10-15 minutes before your appointment. Our office can sometimes be dificult to find if you are not familiar with the area. On your arrival, you will be asked to fill out some paperwork, including a New Patient form.
If possible, please leave siblings at home, or plan on bringing another set of hands to keep them occupied during your appointment. Appointments can sometimes be fairly lengthy, and it can be difficult to engage in a full discussion about your child's issues without both of our undivided unattentions.
If your child is being seen for a developmental, school-related, or behavioural concern (including anxiety, depression, autism, ADHD, etc.), please provide the following documents for us, wither by bringing them to yor appointment or faxing them to the office beforehand.
letters/notes from the teacher outlining his/her concerns
all previous report cards (going back as far as kindergarten, if possible)
any school asessments that have been done
any speech and language, ocupational therapy, and physiotherapy assessments that have been done
If you are unable to find all of your child's previous report cards or school assessments, please ask the school to provide you with copies, or have them fax the documents directly to the office.
By providing us with the above information, this helps us immensely in getting to know your child, and helps us provide a more complete assessment.
Urgent Consult Clinic
In order to see certain consults more urgently, we will sometimes see patients at the Urgent Consult Clinic, located on the pediatric ward (2NB) at Langley Memorial Hospital, while we are on call. This is not necessarily an indication of how sick your child is, but rather, allows us to see your child in a more timely manner than scheduling you into our regular clinic.
You will usually be seen first by a medical student prior to being seen by a pediatrician. As we are on call for the hospital, there is a small chance that we may be called away during your appointment. If this happens, we will do our best to notify you of the change in time of your appointment.
If you are being seen at the Urgent Consult Clinic, you will need to check in with either the Admitting Desk (all appointments before 3 PM), or the Triage Desk in Emergency (all appointments after 3 PM), to be registered as a patient. Please allow an additional 15 minutes for this. After registering, take the main elevators to the 2nd floor and turn right. The Pediatric Ward (2NB) will be located on your right hand side. Check in with the unit clerk, and they will notify us of your arrival.
Our MOAs provide reminder phone calls 2 days before your appointment. Please either call us back, or use the form on this website in order to confirm your appointment.
Rescheduling Your Appointment
Please notify the office at least 24 hours before your upcoming appointment if you are unable to attend. This allows us to schedule another patient into your timeslot. This also helps us keep our wait-lists down to a manageable timeframe.
No-shows or late cancellations will be charged a fee depending on the length of time scheduled for your appointment. No-shows/late cancellations for appointments booked for 1 or more hours will be charged $50, while no-shows/late cancellations for 30 minute appointments will be charged $25. These fees will need to be paid before the appointment is rebooked.
