Child & Youth Mental Health locations

Child and youth mental health services are offered throughout British Columbia by the Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD). These services provide a wide range of community-based specialized mental health services to mentally ill children and their families. Parents are encouraged to self-refer prior to your appointment as there is a lengthy waitlist for services.

 

Strongest Families

Strongest Families is an effective, accessible educational service for families of children with mild to moderate behaviour problems (ages 3 to 12) offered through the Canadian Mental Health Association, BC Division. Referrals accepted from family physicians and pediatricians.

 

Cedarwood Family Support Program

Offers parenting training, counselling, and support to families of children under age 13 with moderate to severe behaviour problems. Provides art and play therapy, and child psychiatry. Serves Delta, Langley, Surrey and White Rock. Referrals made only by Child and Youth Mental Health.

 

Maples Adolescent Treatment Centre

The Maples provides a number of programs and services to address the needs of troubled youth aged 12 to 17 with significant psychiatric and behavioural difficulties. Referrals made only by Child and Youth Mental Health.

 

SFU Surrey Counselling Centre

The SFU Surrey Counselling Centre provides free counselling services for adults, school-aged children, and youth. All counselling is provided by students in the Master's program in Counselling Psychology.
